LFD Home Testing Information

Video 1: Rapid Antigen test

Video 2: Acon Flowflex test

When to take the test

Testing should be completed, before school, every Monday and Thursday.  In order that these tests are used most effectively we ask that you stick to these times, testing before school rather than in an evening.

Taking the test

Please read and follow the instructions provided with your child's home testing kit.

Students aged 18 and over should do the test themselves and report the result, with help if they need it.  Students aged 12-17 should do the test themselves with adult supervision. The adult may help to take the test if they need support.

Students aged 11 must be tested by an adult and the adult must report the result.

Help and support is available, including instructions in different languages on how to test and report the results and videos how to take the test. We are now receiving two different types of flow test: Antigen tests which are the ones used previously and Acorn Flowflex which require only nasal swabbing. Please ensure you you follow the instructions provided and video guides for both tests can be found here. This does not replace symptomatic testing.  If you have symptoms, you should self-isolate immediately, book a PCR test and follow national guidelines.

Reporting Results

All results need to be reported via the NHS website https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result

and to the school via: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=-hEVTLm6ekOhnanlPyn9sHaMR6h3Ks1HiRzoA76Fj_FUM0xBRjFXWUwzMEVXMTVKNTFQU0FGTjNLNS4u

If your child’s home test is positive, your child needs to self-isolate in line with NHS Test and Trace guidance and a confirmatory PCR test must be taken on the same day. You need to inform the school by email/phone or text on 07801390545 . A negative PCR result will allow your child to return to school. If the result of your child's home test is unclear (void) your child will need to do another test.

Household members of anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19 do not need to self-isolate if they are:

  • fully vaccinated – this means 14 days have passed since your final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine given by the NHS
  • under 18 years, 6 months old
  • taking part or have taken part in a COVID-19 vaccine trial
  • not to get vaccinated for medical reasons

Why take part?

Taking part in testing is voluntary and all students will be able to attend school whether they take part in testing or not. However, we are strongly encouraging all students and all staff to take part as home testing will allow all of us all to come to school more safely.
